Career Development and Employment Services Unit
“Lead me to the path that enliven the best of me”. These wise words are indeed true in giving the best support to our graduates, in particular the best support in helping them make the right choice and decision in their career path.
Cognizant to the vital roles being played by the advisors in the graduates’ career path, the university is continuously tapping experts to act as students’ career advisors. Presently, there are eight full-time specialists under the Career Development and Employment Services Unit (CDESU) who manned the said services, and several guidance coordinators who are stationed in different colleges. Their profiles showed that they are registered guidance counselors, some are even registered psychometricians and guidance advocates. Their empowering efforts enabled the CLSU graduates to succeed through the years.
Graduates’ competencies are icons of the university’s image of excellence. Henceforth to continue assisting the CLSU graduates, the Office of the Student Affairs through the Career Development and Employment Services Unit, biennially (February and June) conducts Job Fair. For this June and July 2022, there are outstanding agencies that graced the even for the Virtual Job Fair and Career Fair (in partnership with Jobs180). Significantly, seventy four (74) various agencies all over the regions participated to interview, select and hire qualified applicants. There were corporate companies, individual employers, agricultural agencies, educational sectors among others who participated actively in the said affair.
Career Advising Session offers students’ direction and clarity of career goals. Through this session, students become equip with relevant information that are important to organize their thoughts and decision-making prowess on career choice, and eventually guide them to make wise career decisions.
For several years, the CLSU – Career Development and Employment Services Unit (CDESU) has been very instrumental in developing students who are empowered to make the right decisions in choosing their career path. Aside from the full – time Career Advisors stationed in the Office of Student Affairs, the CDESU designates various college guidance coordinators. These are faculty members who serve as para-counselors and facilitators. This type of coordination with the colleges of the university strengthens further the services to cater the students’ need, in particular their empowerment to make the suitable and appropriate career decisions.
The urgency of the company’s need to select and hire graduates is facilitated by the Local Recruitment Activity of the Career Development and Employment Services Unit (CDESU) of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
Through this activity, graduates were able to search out job opportunities. To facilitate the job information dissemination, recruitment and selection, any employer or company needs to coordinate with the CDESU and submit the following: updated company profile, company registration, list of job vacancies, and requirements and qualification of the applicants. Once these documents are submitted, the job offerings are posted in the CDESU webpage and OSA FB page, and in strategic bulletin boards of the campus, in particular the CDESU bulletin board.

Application letter writing, curriculum vitae development, interview training, etiquettes and decorum reviews are various activities that highlight Pre-Employment Seminar. This seminar intends to fully equip graduating students the necessary competencies as they seek employment outside the portal of the university. With much dedication to produce graduates who have competitive edge in the world of employment, the CLSU never fails to hold Pre-Employment Seminar twice a year.
